Bramble Hill
By Jeff Rolfzen & Rocky Steen-Rolfzen
We dove into a pool of dreams
We left our hearts on golden strings
Lost our minds in the diamond streams
We touched everything then left nothing
Now everything I know is taking control of me
And everything I own is taunting and troubling me
And since all I can be is all that I’ll be
Then I’ll pack up my back and call on my old bones to carry me to
A place for changing
Cuz the snow falls so deep here
At the start of the Spring here
We all wait till June for changing
And healing
Though nothing’s ever set in stone
When you wander through this world alone
You’ll feel as heavy as your bag of bones
If you fail to call the whole world home
Now everything I’ve seen is painting its song in me
And everything I sing is exciting and yet startling me
And since all that I’ll be is all that I’ll be
And I’ll pack up my back and call on my old bones to carry me to
A place for changing
Cuz the road to nowhere left me caught up in air
Now I have the whole plain for changing
And healing
There’s a water well on Bramble Hill
The water tastes the way you feel
With the water watching we did see
That we’ve been a part of everything
With everything shaking gosh darn I’m shaking too
But something is waking as the dawn of the dusk breaks on through
Now we’re out fear we were wallowing in
Trying to let the new life in oh here in this place
For changing
