Shine What You Got
By Jeff Rolfzen & Rocky Steen-Rolfzen
When you’ve been placed in unfortunate ways
With ambitions unfeasible blue
When your heart feels like a dark catacomb
that apparitions of sorrow call home
Don’t you fret about tomorrow it’ll come no matter what I’m sure you know
You can lift your weary spirit though you may not want to hear it
You can raise your mood with a tune
When hope feels out of reach though to your heart it seems
It’s just illusions fading behind you
Don’t need rescuing, just need rest and peace
And a little time to ease a restless mind
Didn’t you know
Didn’t it show
Somebody has been there before
You don’t always know
Where to go, or what you are in for
The sky may be grey
But sunshine and starlight are all the same
Whether you’re near or far away
You gotta shine what you got even if it’s just a little flame
And when trouble comes
A knocking at my door
I remember these words I heard before
When you feel out of place
And you’re afraid to face
All the troubles you have gathered around you
Don’t need wallowing
Just need ways to see
How the sunshine always seems to surround you
Didn’t you know
Didn’t it show
Somebody has been there before
You don’t always know
Where to go, or what you are in for
The sky may be grey
But sunshine and starlight are all the same
Whether you’re near or far away
You gotta shine what you got even if it’s just a little flame
And when trouble comes
A knocking at my door
I remember these words I heard before
When sorrow seems to stay
Wisps your size away
And you can’t find the feelings to mend you
Don’t need company
Don’t need comforting
Just let teardrops change to raindrops in a cloud
Didn’t you know
Didn’t it show
Somebody has been there before
You don’t always know
Where to go, or what you are in for
The sky may be grey
But sunshine and starlight are all the same
Whether you’re near or far away
You gotta shine what you got even if it’s just a little flame
Bah bah da bah da bah da bah bah
You gotta shine what you got even if it’s just a little flame.
